The Amapiano scene is currently buzzing with issues. Recently, DJ Lady Amar opened up about not receiving her rightful earnings for Hamba Juba—two years after its release.

Initially, Biri Marung artist called out DJ Maphorisa for his questionable practices, and now, Ntando Duma’s sister has stepped forward with her own complaint regarding unpaid earnings for her song Hamba Juba.

JL SA, the producer of the track, expressed his frustration about the lengthy delay in receiving payment for a song that has become one of the industry’s leading tracks.

On September 23, 2025, the well-known blogger and influencer Musa Khawula shared a video featuring Lady Amar discussing her situation and asking social media users to stop attacking her, stressing that she shares the same plight as JL SA.

“Hai, guys, I also didn’t get paid for the hit song, I don’t know even a cent. It has been two years since we released the song, and just like JL SA, I didn’t receive any payment, and I haven’t said anything because I am not a person to speak up like how JL did, but I had to because you guys are now insulting me. Please stop, I’m also a victim,” Lady Amar said in the video.

Public Response to Lady Amar’s Payment Issues

Following Lady Amar’s claim on social media regarding her unpaid earnings, numerous internet users shared their thoughts in the comments. Here’s a sampling of the reactions:

@_babybearr said:

“So, are all South African artists illiterate when it comes to music? Is this a case of people getting too excited about the opportunity without understanding what it entails, or are these broken promises?”

@by_greatest wrote:

“Okay, Lady Amar did not receive any payment. JL SA has not received any payment for the song. This leaves us with Murumba Pitch and Cici. They need to come forward; their silence means guilt phela.”

@Billy_PMS commented:

“Wow, so they just go and make bangers without signing contracts… Nah, the music industry is something else.”

@OfentseShezi responded:

“I heard young Stunna say the Royalties for their song Bopha only got paid this year. Bopha was released some years back… yhoo does it take that long bandla?”
