JL SA Addresses the Hamba Juba Payment Controversy

JL SA Tackles the Hamba Juba Payment Dispute

Jackson Motla, a South African producer better known as JL SA, has publicly addressed his involvement in the hit single “Hamba Juba”, asserting that he composed the track’s beat from the ground up but has not yet received compensation for his efforts. The matter has reportedly escalated into a legal issue, with recent updates shared on Cici’s Instagram highlighting the ongoing developments.

“Please fix your statement on your socials and keep me out of this. I never got any money from Hamba Juba but I also signed a split. You know very well who you should be talking to, so you must point the specific ones. I don’t want my career being at stake. Nami ngay’funa leyo mali azange ngiy’thole,” wrote Murumba Pitch SA in a direct message that subsequently surfaced online, voicing his frustration regarding unpaid work while requesting accurate representation.

In response, JL SA sought to clarify his earlier remarks, stating that they were not aimed personally at him. “Ola bro I didn’t mention anything about you. I simply said I never got money for my work. I have no kwal with you, brother. I will release another video tomorrow especially to mention the person. We are both victims here, you and I, we good,” he stated, emphasizing the wider context of the dispute.

The issues surrounding the track have reached beyond the individuals directly involved. Lady Amar used social media to express her discontent with fans, questioning the reasons for the backlash against her amid the unfolding situation. Additionally, legal discussions referenced via Cici’s Instagram suggest that formal actions may be in progress to address issues of payment and credit related to the song.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges within South Africa’s music landscape, particularly concerning royalties, attribution, and fair financial compensation for contributors. Several individuals associated with Hamba Juba, including JL SA and Murumba Pitch SA, reportedly have not received adequate compensation, revealing systemic problems that persistently plague producers and artists alike.

For JL SA, the implications are both career-oriented and personal. By addressing the issue publicly, he aims to safeguard his reputation and clarify his contribution to the song. Response from collaborators and the social media discourse indicate that the controversy extends beyond one person, reflecting broader systemic issues of accountability within the local music industry.

As fans and industry observers keep a close watch, the conflict regarding Hamba Juba serves as a stark reminder of the necessity for transparency, accurate crediting, and prompt remuneration. With legal considerations and statements from various individuals now part of the narrative, there is considerable interest in how this situation will ultimately resolve for all parties involved.
