Khanyi Mbau’s ex-husband has died
The passing of businessman Mandla Mthembu, known as the former spouse of actress and television personality Khanyi Mbau, has saddened many in South Africa.
Mthembu reportedly passed away in New York on September 21, 2025, at the age of 68 due to complications from a stroke.
In a statement to News24, Khanyi Mbau, who has a daughter with Mthembu, expressed her grief while keeping her comments succinct.

The family confirmed that Mthembu died in a hospital and announced that he is survived by six children: Khanukani, Melusi, Nelisiwe, Onentando, Ntando, and Sibongile.
Entertainment expert Phil Mphela also shared the news via his account on X on September 22.
<pMthembu was a prominent figure in both business and entertainment, prompting varied opinions from the public regarding his legacy.
One user on X commented, “Mandla Mthembu is Khanyi’s ex-husband and the father of Khanyi’s only daughter. In his death, we shouldn’t be characterising him as some sort of ex-boyfriend. May he rest in peace.”
Another user remarked, “He had a weak legacy. He blew R260 million in 6 months, bought 2x yellow Lambos, and let a below-average baddie milk him dry.”
