Jub Jub pleads with his baby mama Kelly Khumalo
South African rapper and television presenter Jub Jub has once again addressed the issue of his limited contact with his teenage son, Christian Khumalo.
On Sunday, 2 November, he shared heartfelt videos on Instagram, imploring the child’s mother, singer Kelly Khumalo, to stop portraying him as an absent parent and allow him some form of relationship with their son.
Jub Jub expressed appreciation for how Kelly has raised their child but is frustrated about perpetually fighting from outside the family unit.
Since his release from prison in 2017, he has sought to be involved in Christian’s life, emphasizing that he has made consistent efforts to keep things proper both legally and traditionally.
“You know how many times I’ve tried to get a hold of you to try and get the boy. You know how many times your sister Gumede and your mother have been trying to talk about me meeting the boy,” Jub Jub stated.
He believes Kelly is deliberately keeping him at bay and managing the situation unilaterally: “Stop making my child AI, it’s not nice, it’s not fair. Stop saying I am a deadbeat dad.”
Jub Jub also mentioned that he has made attempts at traditional rites, including paying damages and ukugeza umuzi, yet claims he was still unable to gain access.
Over the years, he has sent gifts for special occasions, but the situation remains unchanged.
The television host indicated that he wants to avoid a contentious legal dispute, considering the emotional strain it could place on Christian, and stressed that he does not intend to seek custody.
“I want my child,” he articulated, highlighting the frustration of having to visit his son’s school merely to see him.
Kelly Khumalo had previously remarked during an interview on The L-Tido Podcast that among her children’s fathers, the late Senzo Meyiwa was the only one who was a commendable parent; a remark that many believe has intensified the public discord between her and Jub Jub.
