Tyla bags second Grammy nomination for her hit single ‘Push 2 Start’
South African artist Tyla continues to make waves in the global music arena.
The creator of Water has received another Grammy nod, this time for Best African Music Performance, recognizing her vibrant single Push 2 Start.
The nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards positions Tyla among renowned African artists, such as Davido featuring Omah Lay with With You, Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid for Gimme Dat, and Eddy Kenzo alongside Mehran Matin for Hope & Love.
With Push 2 Start, Tyla showcases her unique style, which fuses amapiano, pop, R&B, and reggae, highlighted by her smooth and engaging vocals.
Utilizing the imagery of starting a vehicle, the song delves into concepts of progress, risk, and passion, reflecting the thrill of seizing opportunities and welcoming fresh starts.
Since its debut, the song has steadily gained popularity across streaming platforms, radio stations, and social networks, solidifying Tyla’s rising status as one of Africa’s most promising musical talents.
This nomination is a significant milestone in the journey of the 23-year-old artist, who established her foothold in the international music landscape with her debut album “Tyla” released in 2024.
Her earlier hit Water not only earned her a Grammy in 2024 but also made her the first South African solo artist in more than fifty years to reach the Billboard Hot 100.
