Shebeshxt Under Fire: Fallout from Polokwane Road Rage Shooting Claims
Authorities in Limpopo have apprehended a well-known musician identified as Lehlogonolo Chauke, better recognized as Shebeshxt. This arrest occurred during an intelligence-driven operation in the early hours of Wednesday in Bendor, an affluent area near Polokwane.
While official confirmation of the suspect’s identity is pending, police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba indicated that the arrest involved collaboration between the provincial investigation unit and the provincial tracking team.
This operation was initiated following a warrant related to two counts of attempted murder, linked to a case initially filed at Westernburg Police Station.
According to Ledwaba, the charges originate from an incident on Sunday, October 19, 2025, when the suspect allegedly engaged in a dispute with another motorist and discharged a firearm at a vehicle, causing serious injuries to a 34-year-old man.
The injured individual was transported to a medical facility for treatment, and the case was subsequently referred to the provincial investigation unit for further proceedings.
“During the operation, police also confiscated the suspect’s vehicles for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigations,” Ledwaba noted.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe commended the rapid response of the investigative and operational teams, asserting that the case is being treated with utmost importance.
“We are tackling this issue with the highest level of seriousness, and a dedicated team has been assigned to investigate every detail thoroughly,” Hadebe commented.
“The South African Police Service stresses that everyone is accountable under the law, irrespective of their societal position.”
Shebeshxt is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to respond to charges of attempted murder.
