Lamiez Holworthy-Morule has spoken out about her relationship with renowned musician Sello Chicco Twala, addressing ongoing questions about their connection.
The discussion arose after a dance video featuring the two gained significant attention, surprising many fans unaware of their family ties.
In a conversation with DJ Fresh on the WAW What A Week podcast dated January 31, 2025, Holworthy provided insights into how the public became aware that Chicco is indeed her father.
The speculation ignited following the sharing of images from her son Leano Laone’s Christening, which Chicco attended.
An otherwise ordinary photograph of them together quickly led to rampant speculation online, with dialogues around whether they were uncle and niece, cousins, or perhaps romantically linked.
Despite being married, Lamiez anticipated the potential for misunderstanding. She recounted a time they spent in Melrose, an upscale area in Johannesburg, where onlookers cast suspicious glances at them.
“My dad gets calls, ‘Hi, we’d like to confirm whether or not you’re having an affair with DJ Lamiez.’ We were spotted in Melrose, just the two of us, and I said to him, ‘Papa, the way these people are looking at us, they’ll assume that we’re dating.’ But he dismissed me.”
As the rumors intensified, people began reaching out to her mother to verify the claims.
This prompted Lamiez to assert control over the situation by sharing a photograph with Chicco, clarifying their relationship publicly.
She also mentioned that DNA testing confirmed their familial connection.
“That’s my dad, such a cool guy. I am so blessed to get to connect with him now.”
Reflecting on her past, Lamiez expressed the challenges of not having him in her life while also recognizing that the experiences she faced shaped who she is today.
“As painful as it was not growing up with him, and going through what I did knowing he would have helped, I don’t think I would have been who I am if things were any different.”
