Andile Ncube calls out artists for no-show at SAMA 31
Well-known media figure Andile Ncube has expressed his thoughts on the recent South African Music Awards, specifically highlighting the significant lack of attendance from various artists at the event’s 31st iteration.
Ncube took to X to voice his concern regarding the poor turnout, questioning the artists’ commitment to the renowned awards ceremony.
“Seeing the number of absent artists, do you guys not care anymore?” he wrote, reminiscing about a period when an invitation to the SAMAs was seen as a major milestone within the music sector.
The media personality reflected on how the awards used to be a highly sought-after event, indicating that the enthusiasm and honor associated with the ceremony have diminished over time.
He stated that the event requires a revitalization, especially regarding its marketing and promotional strategies.
Nevertheless, Ncube recognized the strong foundation of the awards, remarking that they still benefit from being presented on “the best platform available.”
Seeing the number of absent artists, do you guys not care anymore ?
I remember a time when a SAMA invite was the hottest ticket in town.
There needs to be a revival of this show, the marketing and promo around it.
The awards already sit on the best platform available#sama31
