Felix Hlophe
Gagasi FM has announced that well-known radio host Felix Hlophe is temporarily stepping away from his duties as allegations of abuse arise and circulate on social platforms.
The 49-year-old, who leads the station’s breakfast program, The Uprising, has decided to take a week off to give the station the opportunity to evaluate the online claims.
The announcement coincided with the end of the festive period, with Gagasi FM emphasizing that this action is a precautionary measure.
In a statement issued on December 29, 2025, the KwaZulu-Natal-based station explained that this temporary suspension would allow Hlophe the chance to handle the situation privately while the station’s management evaluates the claims.
Hlophe has publicly denied the allegations of physical abuse and stated that he has engaged legal representatives to assist him moving forward.
Listeners of Gagasi FM recognize Hlophe as a regular on-air presence, where he co-hosts The Uprising with Minnie Ntuli during weekday mornings from 6am to 9am.
The program is popular for blending humor, music, and current affairs to energize the audience at the start of their day.
It remains unclear if Hlophe will return to his show after the one-week hiatus, with the station indicating that updates will be provided once the internal investigation has concluded.
