As the new season approaches in April, many radio presenters are inking fresh contracts with their stations. However, Penny Ntuli, a notable media personality, has opted to part ways with Gagasi FM due to dissatisfaction with the offered salary.
Having joined the KwaZulu-Natal-based radio station in 2022, Ntuli took to her social media platforms to announce her decision. In a detailed letter, she addressed various rumors surrounding her departure and expressed her disappointment with the circumstances.
Sharing a copy of her resignation letter and the new contract offer from Gagasi FM, Ntuli revealed that she had been offered the Sunday graveyard shift from 1:00 to 4:00, with a compensation of R711.98 per show.
“While my time at Gagasi FM has been fulfilling over the past two years, I find it financially unsustainable to accept the offered salary of R2,800 per month,” Ntuli stated in her resignation letter. “I am compelled to explore other avenues to adequately provide for my family.”
Expressing her initial acceptance of the new show offer until learning of the salary, Ntuli recounted feeling embarrassed by the proposed compensation. Despite attempting to negotiate a better salary, she felt her options were limited, ultimately leading her to decline contract renewal.
“It’s important to clarify that my decision does not stem from a lack of dedication to my craft or dislike for Gagasi FM. Radio presenting is my passion, and I hold fondness for this station. However, given the circumstances, I must move forward,” Ntuli affirmed.
With grace, Ntuli acknowledged the opportunities afforded to her by Gagasi FM and expressed gratitude for the experience, while also looking ahead to new prospects in her career.
