Makhadzi is in the news again due to new legal issues stemming from a car accident that resulted in her hospitalization on New Year’s Eve.
The incident occurred on 31 December 2025 as she was traveling from Limpopo to Johannesburg.
Currently on the mend, Makhadzi faces allegations as a driver involved in the accident reportedly filed a case of reckless and negligent driving at the Mokopane Police Station.
According to the Daily Sun, the case was initiated not by Makhadzi or her representatives, but by the other driver involved.
This development is said to have puzzled those surrounding the popular artist.
A source speaking to the publication claimed the driver indicated that he struck a pedestrian at about 8:15am.
He reportedly noted that following the crash, a man in a black Mercedes-Benz quickly came to help Makhadzi and took her to a medical facility.
Additionally, the driver purportedly recorded the vehicle’s registration information before leaving the scene.
Lucky Tshilimandila, a spokesperson for Makhadzi, expressed skepticism regarding the situation, questioning whom the case would be directed against.
“Against who? Because Makhadzi was not driving,” he stated. “It also cannot be the driver because the vehicle Makhadzi was traveling in was stationary. She got out of the car and stood outside when she was hit by the motorist. It’s not like our vehicle was moving.”
This latest turn of events adds complexity to an already challenging situation for the artist, known for her track “Ghanama,” who recently garnered attention for using a hospital selfie as the cover for her latest single, “Operations.”
In a previous communication to her followers, Makhadzi’s team confirmed that she has returned home and continues to receive care.
The team also noted that a case was opened in Mokopane on the day of the accident, although the nuances regarding the new allegations remain unclear.
