Liverpool’s head coach Arne Slot has expressed that he feels uncomfortable making the decision to exclude any player from the squad, including Mohamed Salah. However, he emphasizes that his choices are driven by what is best for the team, according to Softfootball.
Salah has recently returned from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he captained Egypt to a fourth-place finish after losing in a penalty shootout to Nigeria in the third-place match. During an interview shared via Fabrizio Romano’s official X account, Slot was asked if he would feel discomfort in leaving Salah out of a match following his return. He stated:
I always find it uneasy if I leave a player out and even more a player that has meant a lot for this club. But part of my job is making the decision that I think is the best for the team.
Liverpool will take on Bournemouth this afternoon as they resume Premier League action. After enduring four consecutive draws, the team is hoping Salah can help propel them back to a winning state in Match-Day 23.
