Thuli P, a DJ and media figure, has officially launched her music career with the introduction of her first EP, Avana. Popularly recognized in South Africa as Namhla Diale from Generations: The Legacy, Thuli P is now focusing on her musical journey, asserting her presence in the male-dominated Private School Amapiano genre with confidence and emotional resonance.
Avana comprises five thoughtfully crafted tracks that intertwine smooth Amapiano rhythms with personal narratives and cultural relevance. Right from the start, the EP indicates that Thuli P is taking her music seriously, presenting herself as an artist who is deeply rooted in community and self-expression, all while being acutely aware of the contemporary digital environment.
The lead single, “Kube Kuya Ngam”, which translates to “If it were up to me,” stands at the heart of the project. This track conveys a strong message of hope, prosperity, and peace. Featuring contributions from Pronic DeMusiq and Tman Xpress, the song boasts bass-driven production layered with uplifting, gospel-like melodies. The collaboration showcases abundance and well-being, culminating in an emotive anthem that resonates on a spiritual level.
Throughout the EP, Thuli P engages with a diverse group of artists who enhance Avana’s rich auditory experience without eclipsing her vocal presence. In “Mali,” she is accompanied by Kay Invictus, Nia Pearl, and Leandra Vert, who contribute melodic intricacies, while “Molo” includes Omit ST, Lioness Ratang, and Umthakathi Kush, infusing the track with a warm and soulful energy. On “No Need To Suffer,” Pcee complements Thuli P’s themes of resilience and self-confidence, concluding the project with emotional clarity.
Each collaboration is purposeful, amplifying the EP’s themes while prioritizing Thuli P as the focal point. Her vocal delivery strikes a balance between tenderness and power, embodying vulnerability alongside confidence—qualities that permeate the overall essence of Avana.
With her debut, Thuli P not only establishes herself in the music scene but also positions herself as a trendsetter and narrative weaver. Avana integrates spirituality, femininity, and intentionality into the evolving Private School Amapiano genre, marking her as an artist prepared to assert her creative vision with clarity and confidence.
