Penny Ntuli Departs Jozi FM After Two-Year Tenure

Penny Ntuli exits Jozi FM

Award-winning radio presenter Penny Ntuli has announced her exit from Jozi FM, marking the end of a significant period in her professional journey.

Ntuli began her tenure with the Johannesburg community radio station in 2024, originally planning to remain for just six months before returning to KwaZulu-Natal.

<pHowever, in a Facebook message posted on Wednesday, she shared that the station’s friendly atmosphere and the supportive colleagues encouraged her to extend her stay to nearly two years.

During her time at Jozi FM, she expanded her skills by hosting shows in various languages, a process she notes was instrumental in her personal and professional development.

“I learned new languages, and while it wasn’t easy, the listeners were incredibly patient. And my colleagues helped me grow every step of the way,” she remarked.

Her achievements were recognized within a short span, leading her to become a two-time award-winning radio presenter, a success she attributes to the mentorship and encouragement she experienced at the station.

As she looks ahead to new career opportunities, Ntuli expressed heartfelt appreciation for the leadership and staff at Jozi FM, including station head Baba Njomane, the management team, HR, and her immediate supervisor.

“With everything I’ve gained here, I feel ready to grow and move on to new opportunities,” she stated, acknowledging that her experiences at Jozi FM will always be a meaningful part of her journey.

Prior to her role at Jozi FM, Ntuli was a presenter at Gagasi FM in KwaZulu-Natal, where she garnered attention when discussing her exit circumstances.

At that time, she revealed that she had been offered R2,800 a month for a three-hour show, a salary she regarded as disappointing.

“I felt unappreciated and disrespected,” Ntuli shared previously, detailing that her request for a salary adjustment had been turned down. “Ayanda Melansi suggested that I consider other things other than being on air. I then took the decision to ask them not to renew my contract.”

Despite receiving another attractive radio offer in September 2024, Ntuli opted to consult with the leadership at Jozi FM before making any decisions.

She has now confirmed her readiness to move forward, equipped with the skills, confidence, and recognition gained during her time at the station.
