Mac G has ignited discussions once again by delving into the details of Pearl Modiadie’s departure from Metro FM.
During a recent episode of Podcast and Chill, the host brought attention to Modiadie’s protracted legal struggle, addressing what he termed the troubling aspects of the media landscape.
Mac G suggested that Modiadie’s refusal to accept misconduct led to her dismissal from the station.
“She got fired at Metro FM because she wouldn’t give out bums!” he asserted during the broadcast, making his views clear.
Modiadie left the station in 2021 amid claims that her previous programs manager, Anthony “Tony” Soglo, had sent her an email with sexually suggestive comments in November 2019.
This situation escalated into a lengthy legal dispute that extended over several years.
In her court filings, Pearl contended that the communication in question harmed her reputation and caused significant emotional distress.
The email, part of a conversation regarding work arrangements, included a message saying: “Yo… since we are there… Can I also get asked that question? LOL! When do u need Pearl and for how long? Go.. Tumza..Pimpsta of the Year! Hahaha… sorry guys… that was just funny!”
Her lawyers argued that these words were degrading and represented her as someone being scheduled for sexual favors, which they deemed humiliating and degrading.
As a result, Modiadie filed a lawsuit against the SABC for R3.5 million, citing emotional and psychological damages, asserting that such incidents were not isolated.
Soglo was ultimately terminated from his position at Metro FM, later attempting a countersuit against Modiadie in 2021.
