Global superstar Doja Cat is set to make her South African debut as the featured performer for Global Citizen’s Move Afrika 2026 tour.
Now entering its third iteration, the pan-African initiative will commence with Move Afrika: Kigali at BK Arena on 17 March, followed by a stop in Pretoria at the SunBet Arena on 20 March.
This tour is broadening its reach across Africa, emphasizing the continent’s role in the global music scene and fostering job creation and investment in local creative sectors.
For Doja Cat, this experience is deeply personal.
“From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we’re bringing energy, purpose, and real change to Move Afrika in Kigali and Pretoria. This isn’t just a tour; it’s a movement that creates jobs and opportunities that last,” she stated.
“I’m proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future, and shows the world that Africa isn’t coming; it’s already here.”
Move Afrika was established with the goal of creating the first extensive pan-African music touring circuit, supported by international talent while emphasizing local benefits.
Additionally, the initiative prioritizes skill development, employment generation, and the enhancement of Africa’s creative economy in each location it visits.
Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen, commended the artist for her ongoing dedication to the organization’s objectives.
“We are honoured to welcome Doja Cat as the headliner for Move Afrika 2026,” he remarked.
“She has delivered unforgettable performances at some of Global Citizen’s most defining moments, from Paris to New York to the historic Fifa Club World Cup final halftime show. Now she joins us as we expand across the continent, from Johannesburg to Accra, Kigali to Lagos, and now Pretoria.
“Move Afrika is redefining global touring by placing Africa’s creative excellence at the centre of the international circuit, creating jobs, strengthening local creative industries, and driving long-term economic growth powered by culture.”
The program is executed in collaboration with PG Lang and Kendrick Lamar, highlighting its impact in fostering a new chapter of global touring that emphasizes African venues.
Jean-Guy Afrika, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board, also expressed enthusiasm for the tour’s return to Kigali, viewing it as a testament to Rwanda’s goal of becoming a prominent hub for live entertainment and providing opportunities for youth across the region.
