Limpopo musician Shebeshxt will remain incarcerated for over a month after his case was postponed once again.
Following his arrest for allegedly shooting a fan who approached him, Shebeshxt has made repeated appearances at the Polokwane Magistrates Court.
Despite efforts by his legal team to secure bail, the artist remains in custody.
During his court appearance on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, Shebeshxt, whose real name is Katlego Lehlogonolo Chauke, learned that the state had made progress in its investigation regarding his attempted murder case.
State provides status update on Shebeshxt’s case
TimesLive reported that the state disclosed it has finalized its investigations, indicating readiness to proceed to trial.
Prosecutor Kgaogelo Lekoloane suggested the court delay the proceedings to allow for the arrangement of a trial date in a regional court.
After discussion with Shebeshxt’s defense attorney, an agreement was reached for the case to be postponed until 27 March, with Shebeshxt to remain in custody until the next hearing.
Lot Ramusi, representing Shebeshxt, confirmed this postponement.
Mashudu Malabi, a spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo, stated they are awaiting the scheduling of a regional court date, but could not confirm any additional charges beyond the nine Shebeshxt is currently facing.
Shebeshxt’s legal troubles include serious allegations such as three counts of attempted murder, negligent discharge of a firearm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, two counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Friend’s actions lead to further issues for Shebeshxt
In other developments, Shebeshxt encountered additional complications while incarcerated after his friend inadvertently implicated him.
On Tuesday, 10 February 2026, news broke that Shebeshxt faced new problems after authorities allegedly discovered a cellular device and drug-related materials in his possession.
On 11 February 2026, entertainment blogger Buzz Life News reported that the situation escalated when Shebeshxt’s friend, identified as Flower from the group Dhem Scott, posted a screenshot of a purported video call between them on social media.
This post drew the attention of authorities, who subsequently conducted a search of the cells.
