Blogger Musa Khawula is facing new legal challenges following statements he made regarding Julius Malema and his spouse, Mantwa Matlala.
A letter dated 26 February from England Slabbert Attorneys Inc. indicates that Malema and Matlala are considering civil action for damages of up to R1 million and may also pursue criminal allegations of crimen injuria.
The basis of the legal claim stems from multiple social media posts made by Khawula on X, previously known as Twitter, where he allegedly suggested that the couple’s marriage was strained due to suspected infidelity.
The demand letter asserts that these posts presented unfounded claims as truths, inflicting damage to the couple’s reputation and subjecting them to public mockery and scrutiny.
The attorneys argue that the couple’s marriage is solid, stating that there are currently no divorce proceedings or similar legal actions in motion.
The letter labels Khawula’s comments as “prima facie defamatory,” indicating that the couple is ready to take further action if their requests are disregarded.
Khawula has been in legal disputes before concerning his commentary on notable individuals, but he has yet to publicly address the current situation.
