Zanele Potelwa will return as the host of the popular reality series Tropika Island Of Treasure, taking charge once again for its eagerly awaited 12th season.
The show has recently received nominations in two categories for the 2026 South African Film and TV Awards, including a nomination for Zanele as Best TV Presenter for her performance in the last season.
The upcoming season aims to provide fans with the trademark elements of the franchise: adventure, challenges, and exotic locales, along with new surprises.
“Being back as host for Tropika Island Of Treasure is a dream come true. I am beside myself that I get to come back and host another season. I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt, that this is going to be the biggest season yet,” Zanele said.
She mentioned that viewers should brace themselves for unexpected developments, engaging celebrity contestants, and secret preparations that will enhance the season’s appeal.
“I don’t think anyone is ready for the surprises, the celebrity contestants, which island we might be going to and everything else we have done behind the scenes to make this season special. After being nominated for a Safta for the previous season, this announcement is a beautiful way to celebrate, and I cannot wait to be on that island.”
The roster of celebrity contestants for season 12 is expected to be announced later this week, with participants vying for the R1 million grand prize and a R10,000 voucher from Pep.
Audiences can look forward to the same high-stakes drama, stunning locations, and adventurous energy that have defined Tropika Island Of Treasure as a notable item in South African reality television.
