Barbie's Dream Team: Honoring Iconic Women Who Inspire

This Sunday, 8 March 2026, is International Women’s Day. To celebrate this event, Mattel has unveiled a unique set of Barbie dolls that pay tribute to influential women.

Named the “Barbie Dream Team”, this series features eight dolls modeled after their illustrious, real-life inspirations.

Here’s a closer look:

ALL DOLLED UP

The Barbie Dream Team celebrates eight remarkable women, each from varying nations and sectors, showcasing a variety of accomplishments among them.

The names are as follows:

  • Serena Williams (United States of America): Acclaimed tennis champion and businesswoman.
  • Kellie Gerardi (United States of America): Research astronaut and payload expert.
  • Regina Sirvent Alvarado (Mexico): Competent race car driver.
  • Chloe Kelly (United Kingdom): Professional football player.
  • Helene Fischer (Germany): Renowned pop singer with multiple awards.
  • Zoja Skubis (Poland): The youngest Polish woman to reach the summit of Manaslu and Mount Everest.
  • Stephanie Gilmore (Australia): Pro surfer and the first female to earn eight World Championship Titles at the World Surf League.
  • Smriti Mandhana (India): The first Indian woman cricketer to score a century in all three formats (T20, Test, and ODI).

WHAT THE BARBIE DREAM TEAM SAYS

Williams shared her excitement about being represented as a Barbie. She also expressed her pleasure at being included in the Dream Team alongside these formidable women.

“I’m thrilled to be honoured alongside this incredible group of female changemakers as part of the Barbie Dream Team,” the 44-year-old tennis star mentioned.

“Just like so many women have empowered me to turn my fear into courage and doubt into confidence, I hope we can do the same by championing girls everywhere to pick up a racquet, become an entrepreneur, or do whatever ignites their passion and brings their dreams to life.”

Gerardi supported this sentiment by saying, “I’m so excited to join the Barbie Dream Team to celebrate International Women’s Day and show girls everywhere that science and space are for everyone.”

“After helping open the door for scientists to fly and operate their own research on commercial spacecraft … it’s now my mission to hold that door open wider for the next generation of girls to follow.”

The introduction of the Barbie Dream Team – anticipated to be the initial installment in a continuing series – arrives just two months after Mattel unveiled a Barbie doll with autism for the first time.

Nathan Baynard, Vice President and Head of Barbie at Mattel, hopes that this collection will motivate young girls to aspire towards their dreams and aim high.

“This International Women’s Day,” states Baynard, “we’re proud to build on that legacy with the launch of our Barbie Dream Team, celebrating an extraordinary group of global trailblazers who are paving the way for the next generation.

“By highlighting their achievements, we hope to inspire girls everywhere to passionately pursue their dreams and recognize their limitless capabilities.”
