Wiseman Mncube is celebrated for his talent in performances such as Shaka iLembe, yet few anticipated his enthusiasm to showcase his swimming prowess on Tropika Island of Treasure as a self-declared water enthusiast.
The 36-year-old from Durban shared insights with The South African regarding this thrilling and new venture.

I’m here to find out… I’m just really nervous
What are you looking forward to the most about this opportunity?
Having a blast. I don’t want to concentrate on too many other aspects because that would distract me from enjoying myself. If I focus on winning, I might miss out on the fun part. I’ve always believed that in my career, maximizing enjoyment while acting leads to greater achievements. Thus, I aim to live in the moment and enjoy.
Do you have a preferred island you would like to do this on?
No particular preference, but I’m a water baby all the way; I thrive in water. Whether it’s a waterfall or the ocean, that’s my essence. I’m genuinely excited about that, I won’t lie.
So the water challenges are right up your alley?
I’m a fish, man. I exist in water.
If you could choose anyone, whether it’s someone already in your life, or on your wishlist, who would that be and why?
I would choose my friend, Mlekeleli Khuzwayo. He’s an exceptional contemporary dancer. This guy is incredibly fit. He possesses a strong mental balance. Given the option, I’d want to be on the winning team alongside my buddy.
Do you have any fear that you hope they don’t tap into?
Heights! Oh my! If bungee jumping comes into play, my legs would give way. I’m terrified of heights.

I hope my partner brings a different perspective and can tackle such challenges.
Is there a lucky charm or emotional support item you’re taking with you?
My prayer. I’m a prayer warrior, so that’s my charm. And I pray in water. So, it’s clear that the combination will be powerful. Wherever there’s water, I will pray.
What strength do you think will put you above your competition?
I possess an open mind and am an approachable individual, plus I’m a water baby.
