Zenande Mfenyana, the talented actress from South Africa, has achieved a significant milestone in her professional journey.
The actress received her inaugural award at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) ceremony, which occurred on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Gallagher Convention Centre.
Mfenyana was awarded the title of Best Supporting Actress in a Telenovela for her compelling role as Thumeka Mabandla in the first season of the TV series Inimba,.

ZENANDE’S FIRST NOMINATION AFTER NEARLY TWO DECADES
Mfenyana received her first nomination for a SAFTA on February 17, 2026, which was already a significant accomplishment in her extensive career.
While delivering her heartfelt acceptance speech, Mfenyana expressed her emotions, visibly moved as she wiped away tears while being warmly applauded by the audience.
“Thank you, God. To God be all the glory, praise and honour,” she stated during her address. “Thank you to my family at home for supporting me.”

Mfenyana took a moment to express gratitude towards her parents for their unwavering belief in her talent. She also acknowledged her child, who she knew was watching the event from home.
“My child, thank you, baby. I know you’re watching from home,” she shared. “Mommy did it! Everything I do, I do for you.”
Additionally, Zenande expressed her appreciation to the production crew and her fellow actors from Inimba, recognizing their support and collaboration throughout the series.

In a TikTok video posted by entertainment analyst Goodwill Thomo, Mfenyana elaborated on the significance of her nomination. She regarded it as a proud moment, reflecting on her dedicated years in the industry.

“I’m pretty, pretty chuffed at myself, and it’s a huge nod from the industry,” Zenande commented in the video.
“Nineteen years in the industry and this is my first nomination. It just says that I’m on the right track and doing the things that need to be done.”
