River Plate, a prominent Argentine football club, is reportedly exploring the possibility of acquiring striker Giovanni Simeone in the forthcoming summer transfer window, as indicated by Softfootball.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano shared via his x handle that the club is keeping a close eye on developments as they aim to enhance their attacking lineup for the next season.
Romano stated:
River Plate are interested in Gio Simeone as target for the summer transfer window. He’s scored 7 goals plus one assist in a difficult season for Torino and new coach Coudet see Cholito as a top priority.
While River Plate is looking to bolster its roster, SSC Napoli has reportedly activated a €44 million buy clause to secure Rasmus Højlund permanently from Manchester United. Giovanni Manna, the club’s sporting director, has confirmed that the Danish striker is integral to Napoli’s long-term vision, independent of their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Giovanni Simeone, who currently represents Torino FC, has netted seven goals and contributed one assist in a challenging season for his club. Despite the difficulties faced by Torino, the Argentine’s diligence and goal-scoring skills have continued to draw attention.
However, sources from Softfootball indicate that River Plate may encounter obstacles in securing Simeone’s services. Eduardo Coudet, the newly appointed head coach of Torino, sees Simeone, affectionately known as “Cholito,” as a crucial component of his future plans.
In other news, former England defender Ashley Cole has taken on the role of head coach at Cesena FC after starting his coaching career at Chelsea FC, followed by a position with Everton FC.
