Y, previously known as YFM, has unveiled its roster for 2026, marking a significant shift in its approach to youth culture.
Starting April 1, the station will implement a new line-up characterized as “louder, sharper and more intentional.”
“This line-up is a true reflection of where we are as a brand and where youth culture is going. We’re constantly evolving, constantly creating, and always looking for new ways to connect with our audience.
“2026 is about being louder, bolder, and more fearless than ever before. And Y NOT?” stated Y’s programme manager, Phindile Ziqubu.
In addition to changes on air, the station is introducing two digital-first programs as part of its “Beyond FM” initiative, aimed at engaging with Gen-Z audiences.
Uncool MC will lead “It’s an Uncool Show”, providing an in-depth exploration of the Amapiano genre, which is shaping the current global music landscape.
Media figure Lerai will present “Money Talks,” a space for frank discussions about politics, finance, and the socio-economic issues facing the younger generation.
In mid-mornings, Karen Mthethwa will take over the slot from 9am to 12pm with “The Glow Up,” succeeding Xtremme, who has been an integral part of YFM for more than ten years.
Weekday nights will see media influencers Barbara ‘Baxbara’ Moagi and Tulz Madala co-hosting “Uncensored” from 8pm to 10pm, replacing Dimpho Makgotho, who held the position for four years.
“The duo will be pushing boundaries and taking conversations to the next level. Expect bold takes, unfiltered opinions, and undeniable unmatched chemistry,” read a statement from the radio station.
Additionally, DJ Sliqe and Roiii will host every Sunday evening from 7pm to 10pm, while Munaka Muthambi will present “The Rizz” on Saturdays from 5pm to 6pm.
