DJ Speedsta to give back to aspiring DJs
DJ Speedsta is commemorating his birthday with an initiative that goes beyond simple festivities.
The entertainer, known officially as Lesego Nkaiseng, has unveiled a program under the DJ Speedsta Foundation, which will provide four aspiring DJs with fully sponsored training.
The initiative, named DJ 101 by DJ Speedsta, will be conducted over an eight-week timeline and aims to equip participants with practical skills and real-world industry experience.
Speedsta aims to make the application process straightforward.
Those interested can enter by submitting a brief 30-second video where they introduce themselves, indicate their hometown, and explain their passion for DJing.
Entries are accepted via email until 27 April.
The winners will be revealed on 4 May, coinciding with Speedsta’s birthday, during his Up To Speed podcast and across his social media channels, providing a personal connection to the initiative.
“This whole thing is called DJ 101 by DJ Speedsta,” he explained. “We’re having a full workshop with industry experts.”
Participants who do not make it to the final selection will still benefit from the initiative.
Speedsta has announced that everyone who enters will have access to a wider learning experience by attending a DJ 101 workshop scheduled for 9 May.
The event will include guest speakers and professionals from the music sector, who will share their expertise regarding both the art and business of DJing.
From his early days in the Vaal Triangle to establishing himself as a prominent figure in South African hip hop, Speedsta has cultivated a diverse career encompassing radio, television, production, and live performances.
With this recent endeavor, he seems determined to offer similar opportunities to others, particularly young talents who may lack the necessary resources to enter the field.
