Offset has made a swift return to the spotlight merely days following an incident where he was shot in Florida.
Over the weekend, he took to the stage at the University of Arkansas’s Rowfest on April 11. Initially arriving in a wheelchair, he soon stood up to the cheers of the audience.
Footage from the event depicts him performing in a skeleton face mask, with a chair positioned behind him for support if needed.
This performance followed the April 6 incident in which Offset, whose full name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Law enforcement stated that the shooting occurred in a valet area amidst reported altercations. His injuries were non-life-threatening, and he received treatment at a local hospital before being discharged within a week.
As more details came to light, Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was apprehended in relation to the incident and subsequently charged with disorderly conduct.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation remains active, while Lil Tjay’s legal representatives have denied any connection to the shooting. Another person was also taken into custody at the scene, but no charges have been filed against them.
Before his stage comeback, Offset took to social media to express gratitude to his fans for their support, emphasizing his commitment to recovery, family, and music.
This marked his first performance since the shooting, and the moment he stood from the wheelchair quickly circulated online, with many suggesting he is resuming work to address his financial obligations.
Reports indicate that Offset is also facing a separate legal issue involving a $100,000 (R1.64 million) casino debt. A Michigan casino claims he opened a credit line in March 2024 and subsequently defaulted.
Documents acquired by “TMZ” reveal that the casino was unable to contact Offset and attempted to withdraw the owed amount directly from his account, as per their agreement when the credit line was established.
The casino has initiated a lawsuit, claiming that their attempts to recover the funds were thwarted by insufficient account balances, citing breach of contract and fraud among their allegations.
