He is charged with multiple serious offences, including attempted murder, robbery, and violations related to firearms. The courts have previously determined that he has not presented “exceptional circumstances” to merit bail.
Medical professional Dr. Chaba has indicated that the musician requires an urgent surgical procedure on his right leg.
This surgery, referred to as Open Reduction Internal Fixation, is said to be necessary to address issues linked to a screw placed during a car accident in June 2024.
According to Buzz Life, the doctor cautioned that further delays in the procedure could lead to severe repercussions.
Failure to undertake the surgery promptly may exacerbate his condition, potentially resulting in severe pain and possible leg deformation.
Despite these health issues, Shebeshxt remains in custody as his legal team makes a renewed attempt to obtain bail.
His attorney, Michael Khumalo, mentioned in court that they are preparing a new application based on recent developments, indicating they plan to move forward “for the purposes of an application for bail based on new facts.”
However, prosecutors continue to oppose his release, arguing that the case against Shebeshxt is substantial and he may pose a risk if released on bail.
Prior rulings by the court expressed concerns that allowing him to be released might “undermine the criminal justice system.”
As the trial approaches in the regional court, the musician is likely to remain in custody, raising concerns about the timeliness of the medical treatment he urgently needs.
