The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo have issued a demand to Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego to take action regarding the troubling conditions at Mankweng Hospital, providing her with seven working days to respond.
In a statement made public on Wednesday evening, the provincial opposition party criticized the hospital’s ongoing crisis and outlined its demands:
* Immediate reopening of three unused theatres
* Urgent filling of all critical staff vacancies
* and root out corruption in the department
Lawrence Mapoulo, EFF Provincial Chairperson, asserts that the claims are substantiated by firsthand evidence rather than mere speculation.
“People of Limpopo are not getting service in that hospital. Patients across the province are turned away or forced to wait for days,” stated EFF Provincial Chairperson Mapoulo.
He emphasized that access to healthcare is a fundamental right, not a luxury.
As of now, MEC Mashego has not yet addressed the party’s demands.
