Former Generations: The Legacy star Thuli Phongolo recently went viral for her DJ set at D48.
A widely shared video featuring her mixing Zee Nxumalo’s Ngisakuthanda led to accusations that she relies on a USB, a claim attached to her reputation.
Does Thuli P use a USB?
An X user @MissNtabeni shared the video with a playful comment, “Thuli P is really a good actor, she is doing absolutely nothing.”
Thuli has made a name for herself in the DJ scene after transitioning from acting. She has been actively booked for events and even released her first EP, Avana.
Despite her efforts, skepticism remains about her mixing capabilities. The allegations regarding her reliance on USBs have resurfaced, with some asserting that she secures gigs due to her substantial online following.
“They book her because she has lots of followers. While the real talent is not booked.”
Responses from other users included:
@WizzyHlatshwayo commented:
“She’s using a USB, cause she is doing nothing.”

“If she is getting paid for acting, then she is a good actor, don’t you think?”

“This is embarrassing. She didn’t even know when the song would be paused.”
@_justpholoso added:
“That time low is going down mara ena is holding the wrong one. These ladies are disrespecting the masses.”
@Lethlohonolo011 expressed:
“It’s actually better for her to come half-naked twerk as they all do than what she is doing.”
@KGenius_DJ mentioned:
“But all the DJs do this, just turn the knobs even though nothing changes.”
@YoungKxnggg noted:
“Bro nothing, and that for R150K. Adjustments on the wrong channel.”
Thuli celebrates the launch of Avana
On Friday, January 23, 2026, Thuli Phongolo showcased her talents with the release of her five-track EP, Avana, which resonated with fans across Mzansi.
During an interview with a Radio 2000 host, Thuli expressed her openness to exploring new paths.
“I had an idea, because I was always ambitious and wanted to try different things. I was never closed off. I am glad that I started at a young age because when you’re young, you’re so open to trying new things, and there is so much room for mistakes. But as I grew older, I found my feet as to what really works,” she reflected.
