In a heartfelt acknowledgment, Minister of Home Affairs Leon Schreiber praised Springbok Vincent Tshituka, who recently became a naturalized South African citizen. Having fled the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2002 with his family as refugees, Tshituka made his Springbok debut on July 5, 2023, against Italy, embodying the spirit of resilience and integration in South Africa. Minister Schreiber celebrated the brothers’ journey on social media, emphasizing that their story is a testament to the nation’s strength in unity amidst diversity.

 

Celebrating Naturalization and Integration

Minister Leon Schreiber praised Vincent and Emmanuel Tshituka for receiving their South African naturalization documents. He highlighted their journey from child refugees in the DRC to national citizens.

The siblings, who fled political unrest in 2002, now represent South Africa in sports. Schreiber’s remarks underscore the importance of diversity and inclusivity within the nation.

Following their naturalization, the Tshituka brothers have integrated into the Springbok rugby team, with Vincent making his debut during a match against Italy, showcasing progress for refugee athletes.
