Kwaito artist Lvovo Derrango has sought to address misunderstandings linked to his name and a series of controversial posts being circulated on X, formerly known as Twitter. He clarifies that he has not engaged with the platform since 2020.

Known for tracks like Resista, Lvovo is a prominent figure in the South African kwaito scene. He feels it is necessary to distance himself from misleading online content stemming from an impersonator who has been using an account associated with him. The artist, who is still recovering from several near-death events including a stroke, has stated that the misleading posts have surfaced during a delicate phase of his recovery and are not his creation.

Lvovo announces he quit Twitter years ago

The award-winning artist, recognized for hits like Sihamba Sonke, Emaweni, and Uyabizwa, directly addressed his fans, explaining that any content presently attributed to him on X should not be assumed to originate from him. Lvovo stated that his last activity on the social media platform occurred in 2020.

This clarification came after several users on social media connected him to posts related to South Africa’s current immigration discussions. The account identified as “Put South Africa First” frequently shares content regarding immigration, border control, and current events.

Artist addresses viral online posts’ confusion

In a video message, Lvovo expressed that he is not accountable for the content posted from the account. He emphasized that not every post associated with him should be seen as a reflection of his opinions or official statements. His remarks quickly generated discussions online, with many users expressing their astonishment upon discovering that he is not affiliated with the posts. Others welcomed his clarification and noted that it provided context for the divergence in content from what they typically associated with him.

Additional information about the account was conveyed by Daily Sun. The report indicated that Lvovo mentioned having lost access to the account in 2020 and currently has no control over it. The account was previously his before he reportedly lost access years back.

Lvovo’s thoughts on illegal immigration

In distancing himself from the specific posts, Lvovo also commented on the broader issue that has sparked discussion online. He noted his support for measures addressing illegal immigration in South Africa.

He clearly differentiated between endorsing a cause and being the individual responsible for creating social media content.

Daily Sun reported that Lvovo only became aware of the recent posts when people began reaching out to him about them, prompting his public statement to set the record straight. The publication added that he remains focused on his health following the stroke he experienced in 2022.

Despite the health difficulties he has faced in recent years, Lvovo continues to be a significant presence in South Africa’s kwaito music scene, receiving ongoing support from fans nationwide.
