South African actor and creator Chris Q. Radebe is elevating his YouTube success by bringing his popular YouTube show Shut Up! Men Are Talking to a national television audience.

Radebe cultivated a devoted fan following with his YouTube channel, where the show has resonated with South African viewers since its debut in April 2026, prior to attracting interest from DStv’s Movie Room (channel 113). This move represents a key achievement for Radebe, who is among an increasing number of digital creators entering traditional broadcasting.

He shared this exciting news on Instagram on 20 August, stating, “We’ve done it, guys!”

“YOU did this. Thank you! Let’s watch it like we’re seeing it for the first time. Shut Up! Men Are Still Talking loading.”

The film, which Radebe wrote and directed, is set to premiere on 31 August, featuring acclaimed South African actors such as Jo-Anne Reyneke and Thulani Mtsweni.

Details of Chris Q. Radebe’s DStv agreement

Radebe spoke with DailySUN about his collaboration with Movie Room and the circumstances surrounding the deal.

“I had other offers from different channels, but none of them was satisfactory. So, when Channel 113 approached me, I couldn’t say no because of the offer.”

As reported by TVSA, Radebe has held roles as a writer, storyliner, or lead writer for many successful television shows, including Uzalo, The River, Isibaya and Umkhokha: The Curse.

Radebe explained that he sought complete ownership of his creations, motivating his choice to self-fund his show.

“I decided to self-fund my film because I didn’t want to accept terms and conditions. I want to be free to do anything without answering to anyone. I also wanted full ownership.”
