Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye is due in court on Monday, 24 August 2026, as he continues to confront legal challenges. The former rapper and television host faces charges pertaining to the discharge of a firearm in a public area, linked to an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.
The events in question reportedly occurred on 14 June, and during the investigation, authorities allegedly found a pellet gun at the home of the Uyajola 9/9 host.
What transpired in Edenvale?
As described by Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the incidents began when an e-hailing driver dropped off a female passenger at a residence in Edenvale. It is alleged that Jub Jub confronted the driver, accusing him of having an affair with his girlfriend. Reports claim he then forced the driver into his car and restricted his ability to leave.
Further allegations indicated that the Ndikhokhele rapper had discharged a weapon at the driver, who escaped without injury and promptly went to the nearest police station to report the event. Originally, Jub Jub was facing potential charges of kidnapping, unlawful firearm discharge, and obstruction of justice.
The 45-year-old was later granted R5,000 bail by the Gauteng High Court located in Johannesburg.
