Yungboyvegeta Discusses His New Musical Direction. The South African rapper known as Yungboyvegeta, whose real name is Lebogang, is adopting a more intentional strategy in his music as he embarks on a fresh phase of his artistic journey.
Yungboyvegeta Discusses His New Musical DirectionThe artist from Ladysmith recently talked about his slower pace of music production, noting that it has been nearly a year since he last released a complete project. In that period, he has only put out two songs, but emphasized that this limited release does not indicate a decrease in creativity. Instead, he has been focused on taking the time necessary to craft the music he wants to share. “It’s been almost a year without me dropping a body of work with only 2 songs throughout the year, not because I stopped making music but because I became very much intentional towards these records,” he shared.
At the age of 24, Yungboyvegeta mentioned that his creative focus has shifted. He is now more inclined to produce music that will remain relevant and meaningful to him in the years to come. “I’m 24 years old now and I figured I’m tryna make music that I’ll be able to listen to when I’m 34,” he explained, noting that this change has led him to be more realistic and open in his songwriting.
This transition also prompted the rapper to reassess his previous work. Although he does not necessarily dislike his past music, he admitted that he seldom revisits it, having outgrown many of those early ideas and viewpoints.
Much of this personal development is evident in his upcoming project. Yungboyvegeta stated he has been meticulous in identifying the appropriate sound while creating music that more accurately reflects his emotions. This process has required him to confront feelings that he found challenging to articulate in the past and to cultivate the confidence needed to express them creatively.
“It took me a lot of self-esteem to create with what was so hard for me to express,” he remarked. “It took a lot of growing up to make this kinda music I won’t lie and hopefully someone will press play 10 years later and feel how I felt when I listened to the final product.”
Going by the name “Lebogang,” his thoughtful introspection provided fans with insight into the thought process that informs his current artistic direction. Rather than gauging his progress by the frequency of music releases, Yungboyvegeta seems to prioritize creating music that is authentic and holds significance that transcends its release date.
Recognized for his works including the Yungboy’s Revenge series and Umfana Omncane, Yungboyvegeta is now entering a period where personal growth appears to play a crucial role in his musical output. His recent statements imply that the next project will prioritize documenting his current self over aligning with industry trends.
For fans eager to hear his next project, the message is straightforward. Yungboyvegeta is taking his time to ensure that his music is a true reflection of himself, hoping it will continue to resonate with listeners years after it is released.
