Gavin Hunt is eager to move forward. While Stellenbosch FC has yet to disclose its new signings, the coach has identified three foreign players he hopes to integrate into the Betway Premiership shortly.
Ghanaian goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi is set to join the team. However, the delay is due to work permit issues for Nigerian players Arigo Obus Godspower and Lateef Kazeem Adeyanju. Hunt has already outlined their intended positions.
“The one’s obviously a left winger; he’s a left-footed player, Kazeem. He’s really done well at training, and obviously the other guy, Arigo, is a striker.”
The strategy involves alternating Arigo with Bradley, providing Hunt with a forward who can operate effectively, capitalize on aerial opportunities, and finish the chances created during pre-season that went unused.
“He’ll give us options… Good in the air, he runs, he’s scored a lot of goals in pre-season, but obviously hasn’t been able to use him,” stated Hunt. “So that’s going to be another problem to try and integrate him a little bit more. It’s just work permits now.”
Hunt emphasizes he is not merely discussing supplementary players, but those integral to the starting lineup.
“If you look at our squad, there’s certainly four, five that will start in our team that are not playing. And it’s been unfortunate,” he noted.
“It’s just one of those things. Mosa Lebusa, Bafana Mthethwa, Kazeem, and Arigo, they will start the four, five of them in our team. But obviously, they haven’t been available for various reasons, and that’s about it.”
