Renowned international platinum artist Champuru Makhenzo has unveiled a new track composed specifically for the Nedbank IMC Conference, translating the energy and culture of this marketing gathering into a musical piece.
This song is part of SlikourOnLife’s Music on Media initiative, which investigates the relationship between music, media, culture, and brands, supported by SOL Distro’s recording and distribution framework. For the Nedbank IMC, music was integrated into the essence of the conference, encapsulating the dialogue and ambiance that arose during the event.

The Nedbank IMC occurred on Thursday, September 17, at Mosaïek Teatro in Johannesburg, gathering marketers, creatives, and industry leaders for a day centered on the evolving marketing landscape. The theme for the 2026 event was “Shift Happens,” addressing various topics, including technology, culture, creativity, and business.
Makhenzo drew inspiration from the event, incorporating snippets from speakers and attendees into the track. “Are you making the song as I speak now?” Bouga Luv inquires during a presentation. “Are these the lyrics you want for your song?”
The phrase “AI in the context of marketing” is transformed into a rhythmic motif, “King Kong” evolves into a chant, and “I have chandeliers in my ears” becomes a recurring refrain interwoven within gqom’s signature soundscapes.

This project is also connected to SOL Distro, SlikourOnLife’s music distribution system, which facilitated the recording, distribution, and musical infrastructure for the initiative. The intention is for the track to live on past the conference, allowing the event’s spirit to resonate through music and reach broader audiences beyond the physical venue.
Through Music on Media, the Nedbank IMC initiative illustrates how events can inspire original musical compositions based on their surroundings and interactions. With Makhenzo in charge of production and SlikourOnLife breathing life into the concept, this conference song forges a link between marketing, music, and South African culture within a single release.
The visualizer encapsulates the conference’s dynamic atmosphere, transforming its significant moments into music.
