Every great idea starts with potential but turning it into impact requires the right opportunity to grow. South Africa’s next breakthrough business could emerge from anywhere: a university residence, a township community, a garage workshop, or a late-night spark of inspiration captured on a phone. What matters is creating an environment where young entrepreneurs can develop their ideas and build sustainable businesses.
That opportunity returns this year as Nedbank opens entries for the 2026 YouthX Awards, inviting ambitious young South Africans aged 18–26 to share their ideas and unlock their entrepreneurial potential.
More than an awards initiative, YouthX by Nedbank is designed to help young entrepreneurs turn potential into progress. By combining funding with mentorship, financial education, business support, and access to meaningful opportunities, YouthX gives young people the tools, connections and confidence to turn their ideas into reality.
Whether you’re building a business, solving a community challenge, creating a product, or developing an innovative solution, YouthX is hereto help you unlock your potential, grow your idea, and take your next big step.
Elwin Smith, Head of Group Sponsorships and Events at Nedbank, says YouthX is about more than recognising young entrepreneurs; it is about creating opportunities that help them turn their ideas into action.
‘We believe South Africa’s young people already have the ideas, creativity and ambition to shape the future. YouthX by Nedbank is about helping them unlock their potential by giving them the confidence, support and opportunities to turn their ideas into action.’
This year’s winners will receive more than prize money. Alongside cash prizes, participants will gain access to mentorship through Nedbank’s enterprise development team, financial literacy training, guidance from Nedbank financial advisers, and opportunities that support long-term entrepreneurial success. The top 3 winners will also earn the opportunity to attend the prestigious One Young World Summit, joining a global community of young leaders driving positive change.
Ready to unlock your X? Young entrepreneurs interested in entering need to submit their ideas or existing ventures through the YouthX website, share how YouthX can help unlock their potential, and provide supporting material that brings their vision to life.
Entries are open from 14 August to 9 October 2026. Finalists will progress through a rigorous judging process before pitching their ideas to an independent panel, and the winners will be announced at the YouthX Awards on 21 November 2026.
