Teko Modise Breaks Down AmaZulu’s Success Strategy Compared to Other KZN Teams
Teko Modise, a former midfielder for Mamelodi Sundowns, has commended AmaZulu FC for their strong performance at the start of the season, noting that the club is accomplishing what many teams in Durban have struggled to do.
Having lost only one of their first seven games, AmaZulu is currently positioned in the top three of the league standings.
Their offense has been particularly effective, with striker Thandelwenkosi Ngwenya topping the PSL scoring list with eight goals and one assist across seven matches.
In an interview with Hollywoodbets Sports Blog, Modise highlighted AmaZulu’s strategic approach and their success in revitalizing players who have faced difficulties at other clubs.
“AmaZulu have done what most teams, especially those from Durban, have failed to do before,” Modise remarked.
He also noted that the club’s faith in coach Arthur Zwane is starting to yield positive results.
“With a coach such as Arthur Zwane, who has a distinctive style of play and also worked with the youth structures at Kaizer Chiefs, he understands the importance of bringing through youngsters.”
Modise pointed out that AmaZulu’s commitment to their future could enable them to remain competitive at the top levels of the league.
“With AmaZulu trusting him, the results are now coming through,” he emphasized.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder suggested that if Usuthu continues their current trajectory, they might qualify for continental competition again.
AmaZulu last participated in the CAF during the 2021/22 season, securing a second-place finish that allowed them to qualify for the CAF Champions League under Benni McCarthy.
Modise believes that engaging in another continental competition could offer the players essential experience and foster the mentality required to compete with South Africa’s established clubs.
