The former striker for Bafana Bafana, Bernard Parker, has opened up about his life, disclosing how his battle with addiction impacted his marriage to Kacha Stepanovic.
Currently serving as the head coach for TS Galaxy, Parker shared news of their separation through a detailed announcement on social media that was subsequently removed, expressing remorse for the distress he caused and acknowledging his faults.
“I have made mistakes and struggled with personal addictions that have affected my life and the people I love,” Parker wrote.
He further expressed gratitude towards Stepanovic for her support throughout their relationship, recognizing the hurt his actions caused her despite her unwavering love.
The ex-Kaizer Chiefs player noted that they would still work together as co-parents for their six children, emphasizing that their commitment to raising them would remain unchanged after the separation.
“Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way we hoped,” he admitted, expressing his sorrow for the errors he made.
In a different post on social media, Stepanovic seemed to address Parker’s remarks with a candid statement regarding addiction and betrayal.
“Lust and addiction will strip you of your family, your work, your name and everything you built,” she wrote.
She also cautioned about the fallout from betrayal, encouraging individuals to reflect on whether their actions are worth jeopardizing what they’ve established.
The couple’s separation has gained significant attention, as Parker has openly admitted to his struggles and expressed regret over the dissolution of their relationship.
It remains uncertain if Parker will be at the helm when TS Galaxy faces off against Orlando Pirates in a Betway Premiership clash at Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday evening.
The team has not had a promising beginning under his leadership, leading to speculation that the club’s management may seek a new coach soon.
