The independent record label Villager SA Entertainments has made the decision to halt the Spotify release of their eagerly awaited track, “Dzhena ka Power (Trrrr Pha Pha)” featuring Mia Ndiwa and Cotsia Ndiwa.
In an urgent announcement made on October 18, 2026, the management disclosed that copyright disputes arising from an unauthorized remix have compelled them to restrict the track’s availability to YouTube for the time being.
The official notice elaborated that the issue pertains to a “Laptop DJ” who is accused of misappropriating their earlier piece, known as “SBNO Dance.”
This individual allegedly remixed the song and published it on Spotify without securing permission or appropriate licenses.
Since the newly released single contains similar melodic components to the original composition, automated system policies and conflicting registrations have prevented the original artists from releasing their own studio version.
Representatives of the label indicated that even alternate versions, like “SBNO 2.0,” are facing distribution challenges due to the metadata conflicts created by the unauthorized upload.
The management confirmed that they sought to resolve the intellectual property issue amicably outside of court.
However, after experiencing persistent avoidance and what they referred to as “the runaround” from the involved party, the label is now preparing to initiate stringent legal measures to enforce immediate takedown requests.
While the label expressed its appreciation for the creative contributions DJs make to the larger music community, they reaffirmed a strong stance regarding the rights of creators.
“Respect for the industry must also extend to the original creators and their work,” the statement emphasized. “We believe in mutual respect, proper communication, and obtaining the necessary permission before distributing another person’s music.”
Offering an apology to their fans for the streaming delay, Villager SA Entertainments requested their supporters’ patience as internal legal teams work to resolve the digital logjam.
The label reiterated its dedication to safeguarding its catalog, ensuring that future releases to digital service platforms comply with legal ownership requirements.
