A heated exchange on social media involving Amapiano artist MaWhoo (Thandeka Ngema) and DJ-influencer Cyan Boujee (Honour Zuma) has captured the attention of South African netizens this week. The dispute revolves around a rumored shared love interest and claims concerning three houses.
Neither individual has explicitly stated who the posts are referring to.
It begins with the houses
The discussion was sparked when MaWhoo mentioned that her partner had purchased three houses for her outright, emphasizing that they were not rentals.
In reaction to an earlier post by Cyan that upset her, MaWhoo uploaded a screenshot of an incoming message to her Instagram Stories. The message started with “My twin!” and concluded with “I really be having people mad for years.” Many interpreted this as a man reaching out to her while being publicly associated with another person.
Cyan Boujee responded on her own Stories with captions that followed a similar theme, saying, “My name alone will ruin a B’s whole day.” Gossip accounts and fan pages portrayed it as a conflict over the same man, with some implying that Cyan had “taken” him.
Subsequently, Cyan uploaded a clip showcasing a poolside lifestyle set to MaWhoo’s track Bengicela, which many interpreted as a jab at the singer. MaWhoo then shared a snug picture with a man on her WhatsApp status, captioned “My happiness.” In turn, Cyan uploaded a video mimicking MaWhoo’s own verse back to her and urged her to share recent photos instead of older ones.
MaWhoo’s sister, Amahle, reportedly chimed in through the comments before taking to TikTok live to threaten the DJ.
The enigmatic man
Although neither woman has identified the man, online commentators have suggested he may be a senior municipal official involved in controversy.
In a video circulating on X, Cyan is heard apparently stating she would address MaWhoo if they were ever scheduled to perform at the same event. She has since expressed regret about her online behavior and mentioned the need to take a break from social media, without clarifying the reason behind it.
