Manchester United’s position regarding a potential move for dissatisfied Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has emerged.
United Accelerate Striker Search
The Red Devils are ramping up their pursuit of a new striker in preparation for the 2025/26 season. Scoring consistent goals proved to be a significant issue for the team last season, making this challenge a top priority heading into the transfer window.
To address this, they have already secured deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
However, Manchester United still aims to acquire a marquee striker after missing out on their first-choice target, Liam Delap, who chose Chelsea instead. Consequently, Ruben Amorim’s squad is now looking at a broader range of options.
United has been linked with several potential targets, including Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace), Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig), and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Earlier today, reports surfaced that Isak has conveyed his desire to leave Newcastle in search of a new challenge. Naturally, with United keen on adding a key striker, speculation regarding his transfer has generated considerable buzz.

Although the Swedish forward has not filed an official transfer request, he appears eager to leave, amid strong interest from Liverpool and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Newcastle is reluctant to part with Isak, whose value is estimated at £150 million, but may have to consider selling if the player continues to push for a transfer. Discussions regarding a contract extension to keep him at St James’ Park have occurred, but no substantial progress has been made.
United’s Position on Pursuing Isak
According to Chris Wheeler from the Daily Mail, Manchester United will not be pursuing the Isak situation due to its high financial implications.
Wheeler noted on X, “Man Utd have ruled out a move for unsettled Newcastle star Alexander Isak and other expensive targets like Benjamin Sesko and Nicolas Jackson, as they struggle to finance a new striker after spending over £130m on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.”

This has been corroborated by Samuel Luckhurst from the Manchester Evening News.
“Manchester United is unlikely to pursue striker Alexander Isak despite his apparent desire to leave Newcastle,” he reported. “Sources at United do not anticipate the club exploring the possibility of signing Isak, who Newcastle values at £150 million. One source indicated there was ‘no chance’ of United chasing Isak.”
Last season, Isak netted 23 goals and provided six assists in 34 Premier League appearances.
