Tiyani Mabunda, spokesperson for Sundowns, stated that the new jersey embodies the club’s distinctive style of play.
Mamelodi Sundowns have officially launched their new PUMA home and away kits for the 2025/26 season. The home kit features the classic yellow shirt, blue shorts, and white socks, while the alternate kit showcases a white shirt, white pants, and blue socks.
Brett Bellinger, Marketing Director at PUMA SA, commented, “The new Sundowns kit is a tribute to the style of play that has led this remarkable club to achieve eight consecutive PSL titles, a Champions League star, and numerous other accolades, including their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup where their skill and style were showcased prominently.”
He added, “The kit beautifully honors this legacy, featuring an underarm print that utilizes a unique, almost kaleidoscopic pattern inspired by traditional hand-dyed fabrics, combined with movement tracing from analyzing Mamelodi Sundowns games.”
According to Tiyani Mabunda, the new jersey symbolizes the club’s distinctive identity and style of play, known as “shoe-shine-and-piano.”
Mabunda explained, “This jersey encapsulates our identity and unique approach to the game, which was evident during the FIFA Club World Cup. Our style, characterized by patient buildup, flair, and creativity, is what our fans anticipate. Whenever Masandawana raise their hands in song or cheer to encourage the players, they will express our identity, reminding the team of the expectations from our supporters.”
Sundowns are set to kick off their 2025/26 season with an MTN8 quarter-final match against Richards Bay at home at Lucas Moripe Stadium next Sunday.
