In their Premier League opener this season at Villa Park on Saturday, Newcastle United will be missing their key forward, Alexander Isak, as the uncertainty surrounding the Swedish international’s lengthy transfer situation continues to persist.
The 25-year-old, who has scored 62 goals in all competitions since joining for a club record transfer fee in 2022, seems eager to depart Newcastle during this transfer window.

Eddie Howe has expressed his inability to include the dissatisfied player in the squad, despite his desire to have him. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic about Isak continuing with Newcastle. The forward is currently not part of the plans as strong rumors link him to Liverpool.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano mentioned via his X handle that it has been officially confirmed that Alexander Isak will not be available for Newcastle’s match against Aston Villa this weekend. Manager Eddie Howe emphasized that his stance has not changed on this issue. In his post, he remarked:
“Official: Alexander Isak, out of Newcastle squad for this weekend.
Eddie Howe: “Isak situation is the same and I think that will remain the case”.
Isak has made it clear that he wishes to leave Newcastle this summer, with Liverpool being his chosen destination. The Reds are still pursuing additional attacking options, even after securing Hugo Ekitike earlier this summer. The Swedish forward has been highlighted as their primary target due to his remarkable scoring record with the Magpies.
Softfootball reported previously that the Premier League reigning champions had a bid of 110 million pounds rejected for Alexander Isak, who tallied 23 league goals last season as Newcastle secured fifth place and earned a spot in the Champions League.
