Outrage as Kelly Khumalo distances herself from Senzo Meyiwa trial
Kelly Khumalo has finally spoken out regarding the ongoing proceedings involving the individuals charged with the murder of her former partner, the late Senzo Meyiwa, who captained Bafana Bafana.
However, rather than expressing the compassion that many anticipated, her comments have instead created a stir on social media, stirring up feelings of anger and division.
Meyiwa was shot in October 2014 at Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus, an incident initially reported as a failed robbery attempt.
The couple had a daughter, Thingo, who is reportedly beginning to follow her father’s path.
Over the years, Kelly has been associated with the investigation as a person of interest, yet she has never been called to provide testimony.
Recently, in an old interview clip that resurfaced online on Friday, August 22, a user shared her candid opinion when asked about her expectations for the trial.
“None of my business. I don’t have hopes for rubbish. I have no hopes for rubbish. I’m sorry,” she stated.
Her blunt rejection of the ongoing trial faced significant backlash on social media, especially when measured against her sister Zandile Khumalo-Gumede’s heartfelt account in court.
Zandie, who testified as a state witness, became emotional while recounting the profound impact Meyiwa’s death had on their family.
At one point, she directed her remarks to the defendants, inquiring, “Are you guys even aware of what you did to my life? Are you guys even aware of what you did to us as a family on that day?” before the judge admonished her.
Kelly Khumalo says the #SenzoMeyiwaTrial is rubbish. 👀
