Pro Kid's Producer Weighs In on Blxckie's Freestyle and Potential Team-Up

Producer of Pro Kid Addresses Blxckie’s Comments Regarding Freestyling on a Pro Kid Beat in 2025

This remark came after K.Keed declined to freestyle on a Pro beat during her 5FM chat with DJ Speedsta, igniting a fiery discussion online about legacy, respect, and the evolving tastes of different generations.

Dome, who has been Pro Kid’s producer for many years, is choosing to take a diplomatic approach. In a conversation with The Citizen, he expressed that he wasn’t bothered by Blxckie’s comments, viewing them instead as a reflection of the natural evolution across eras.

“I genuinely appreciate Blxckie; his statement was not directed towards me nor Pro. It highlights the divergence in our artistic periods,” Dome shared. “Do we age like fine wine, or do we age like milk? We, as black people, do not age like milk; we age like wine.”

Although many interpreted Blxckie’s statements as undermining Pro Kid’s legacy, Dome stressed the importance of advancing the culture. “The culture has to progress. Hip hop does not belong to us; we are South African,” he further noted.

Reflecting on his contribution to the local hip hop sound, Dome highlighted how his collaboration with Pro Kid in the early 2000s pushed the genre into new realms, building upon the efforts of pioneers like Prophets of the City.
