- Bridget Masinga, an actress, recently held Panyaza Lesufi accountable regarding the ongoing water crisis in Johannesburg
- She took to her social media account to seek responses from the Gauteng Premier after experiencing several days without water
- Her social media activity sparked intense discussions among followers and frustrated community members, who are increasingly expressing concerns about the deteriorating infrastructure in the city
On February 22, 2026, the actress, recognized for her role as Zoe in the well-known soap opera Generations, took a stand and urged Panyaza Lesufi to address the ongoing problem.
“Morning, @Lesufi, waking up to day two of 100% zero water, after a week of daily interrupted water supply. But hey, maybe you can sponsor my household a room for a shower at Monty since my baby and I have commitments today? Whilst you’re at it, she needs water for formula too.”
Her comments were made against the backdrop of Lesufi stating that he has also been impacted by the water crisis and has to bathe in hotels.
After enduring additional days without water, Masinga intensified her call for accountability, emphasizing that local residents still owe rates regardless of the lack of water service. She also reached out to Dada Morero, the Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, seeking to understand why her taps remained dry for an extended period.
“Hey, @Lesufi and @DadaMorero. Day 9, zero water. Not a drop. But my rates must be paid in full and on time, right?”
Masinga did not shy away from discussing the alarming situation regarding her neighborhood’s water being compromised due to a leaking sewage pipe.
The health risk posed by this issue heightened her plea, making it clear that the matter extended beyond mere water shortages; it involved the safety of the entire community. Her tweet caught the attention of Morero, who responded with empathy and a commitment to resolve the matter.

“This one called @Lesufi said the water issue is sorted, he lied.”
sliemak shared:
“It puzzles me when politicians refuse to answer simple questions relating to their jobs. Yet they are active online and busy with PR exercises. I asked about claiming for potholes in COT, and the fave ignored me; that time, I merely needed a process clarified. Yet come elections.”
Hey @Lesufi and @DadaMorero Day 9 zero water. Not a drop. But my rates must be paid in full and on time, right?!? https://t.co/JBwOKLz2Ku
