The 2025 TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa return to celebrate the creators, artists, and influencers who have shaped the platform in 2025. Scheduled for 6 December 2025 in Johannesburg, the event promises an evening rich in entertainment, artistry, and motivation, featuring creators from throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
In 2025, African creators have demonstrated their unpredictability. From the infectious rhythm ofBhadBoi OML’s track ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ to the livelyNgishutheni dance trend, and the compelling tracks byShallipopi, TikTok is acknowledging the creativity of those who have transformed short clips into a significant cultural movement. This year has shown how niche interests have gained broader appeal, with communities forming the backbone of online engagement, alongside creators who have emerged as influential figures.
These awards are another demonstration of TikTok’s commitment to nurturing and inspiring Africa’s creative community, helping individuals to excel, develop, and turn their hobbies into viable careers. The 2025 ceremony will highlight creators across various categories, ranging from food and entertainment to sports, education, music, and storytelling.
“Our awards serve as a moment of both reflection and gratitude, allowing us to create deeper connections with those who energize our continent. Ultimately, the TikTokawards honor the vibrant community that continually encourages creativity, fosters connectivity, and spreads happiness on the platform while transforming their passions into rewarding careers,”states Boniswa Sidwaba, Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa.
