Softfootball reports that Chelsea is facing late competition from Bayern Munich in its pursuit of Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
The 21-year-old is considered one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe and is a primary target for the Blues as they aim to bolster their creative talents under manager Enzo Maresca.

Simons recently made his transfer to Leipzig permanent after a loan from Paris Saint-Germain, and his impressive performances have garnered interest from several top clubs.
Chelsea is working diligently to secure Xavi Simons as the transfer battle intensifies. Reports indicate that personal terms are nearly finalized, and Simons is open to relocating to London.
However, Bayern have entered the fray, reaching out through intermediaries to explore the possibility of a deal. While they haven’t submitted a formal offer yet, their sudden interest could complicate Chelsea’s efforts to acquire the Dutch talent.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the latest updates on his official X account, stating:
“Chelsea and RB Leipzig are actively engaged in direct talks regarding Xavi Simons.
“RB Leipzig knows the player is eager for the transfer and is attracted to Chelsea.
“Bayern has inquired for updates this week, but Chelsea remains the clear frontrunner, already in discussions with the player’s approval.”
Chelsea regards Simons as integral to their squad rejuvenation, especially with potential departures looming. João Félix and Christopher Nkunku have both been linked with transfers, and the club’s recruitment strategy is focused on acquiring young, technically proficient players that align with Maresca’s long-term objectives.
The West London team is also nearing agreements for other emerging talents, such as Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.
Brazilian forward Estevão Willian and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are also being monitored, with pre-season signings expected to accelerate in the coming days.
