The saga surrounding the popular 2023 track Hamba Juba has escalated as singer Cici publicly addressed the situation.
This song, which boasts millions of streams on Spotify and a significant number of views on YouTube, has drawn scrutiny as multiple collaborators assert they have not received their due payments.
The controversy began when producer JL SA, whose real name is Jackson Motla, expressed to his audience that he had yet to receive any royalties from the track.
Following his revelation, DJ and producer Lady Amar also disclosed that she has not received the payments owed to her.
As both artists voiced their concerns, the focus shifted to Cici, who has now issued her own statement.
Posting on Instagram, the artist shared a communication from her legal representatives indicating that she too has not been compensated for Hamba Juba, despite having signed a split sheet agreement.
The statement reads: “For the avoidance of doubt, it is placed on record that our clients have not, to date, been placed in receipt of their rightful and proportionate royalty and master share entitlements arising from the aforesaid work.”
Her legal team further warned that they would pursue legal action if the situation remains unresolved, noting they are currently in discussions with SAMRO about the matter.
